Abu Simbel

Built by Ramses II in the 13th century BC (a smaller temple dedicated to his wife Nefertari sits to the right of the picture). The two temples were relocated up in the 1960s to avoid being submerged by the Aswan dam (Aswan is 300 km NE of this location). The four statues in front of the temple represent Ramses II.
